BEAUTY TIP #14 – Scorn Intimidation

Why do we talk like t his? “I could never decorate my home the way you do.” “I could never possibly walk into a room and speak to strangers.” “I could never pray like you.” I could never……….” (you fill in the blanks). With shoulders hunched and eyes lowered, we succumb to the subtle menacing foe of intimidation.
Dr. Dobson of Focus on the Family, says that the biggest struggle for women is their lack of self worth. Countless women battle intimidation-an enemy that is actually camouflaged as fear of indequacy. We cower because we are afraid that we are not enough for this world. “Surely, we say, “everyone must be smarter, prettier, more accomplished than I am.”

Knowing that we are a child of God, gives each of us the antidote for intimidation-boldness. How can we have this boldness and apply it in every insecure moment of our lives?
Here’s how-speak the truth about yourself:
1. Before the foundations of the earth were formed, God had you in mind to be in this time and place of all eternity. You are not an obligation, mistake or accident (Eph. 1:4).
2. You are God’s child (Eph. 1:5).
3. God loves you with a lavish love (1 John 3:1).
4. God has forgiven all your sins, so there is no need to cower or feel intimidated.
5. Jesus came into the world NOT to condemn you, but to save you from you. (Rom 8:1).
6. You have been given the mind of Christ to empower you to make wise, bold choices (1 Cor. 2:16).
7. You have been given a spirit of power, love and self-dicipline (2 Tim. 1:7).
The next time you find yourself cowering, STOP and scorn intimidation; remember who you are. There is nothing more gorgeous than a woman who knows she is loved. That would be YOU.
