FOGGY AND UNCLEAR-by Heidi McLaughlin

Posted: January 15, 2023

Some days life feels like this doesn’t it? Immersed in fog, without clarity and everything seems eerie and quiet. Especially when Covid has hopefully seen it’s last visit, and there are hopes, dreams and expectations for the coming year. How do you find your way? Me? I want to be like the rhinoceros and zebra. Let me explain.

I want to be like the rhinoceros and zebra.

Rhinoceros – Though there no official statistics on how far a rhino can see, from research it is estimated that they can’t distinguish between a man and a tree at a distance of 20 meters. How is that good? It’s similar to being in a fog, if we can’t see what’s ahead of us, we don’t need to worry. The Bible tells us: “Don’t worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of it’s own” (Matthew 6:34). This teaches me that I need to trust God for TODAY, and that God will help me work through tomorrow. This is hard to do but so wise and healthy.

Lord help us to live that way.

Zebra – All Zebras have different stripes. When a baby zebra is born it stays with the mother until the filly is so familiar with his or her mother’s stripes, they can locate the mother in a crowd. It is by Jesus’ stripes that I have been healed, redeemed and reborn. Jesus said: “You will know the truth and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32). I need to know Jesus so well that I can easily recognize Him in a crowded room That I will not be deceived or swayed by imposters, or succumb to the enemy’s lies. That I will know His voice, trust His word and not lean on my own understanding. But that I will acknowledge Him in all ways and He will help me find my way.

So you see, (or don’t see) that I kindda like the foggy look. It forces me to trust Jesus every step of the way. My job is to learn, study and recognize His stripes and run to only Him because that is where I will find my way. Where do you want Jesus to take you in 2023?
